Rotterdam- Alice Marie (Starson) Stone, 88, at rest on Friday,March 27, 2015. Alice was born in Stamford, Connecticut, July 1, 1926 to Marie and Frank Starson. She moved to Rotterdam, NY with her mom and step father when she was 7 years old. She attended and was a graduate of Draper Schools . Alice worked at the General Electric Company where she met her husband, Gerald F. Stone. They married on May 15, 1948 and had 3 children. Jerry died May 5, 1998, 10 days before their 50th wedding anniversary. Once Alice's children were in school she worked part-time at the Carl Company, Corbett's Shoe Store, and finishing out her work career in the St. Clare's Hospital Admitting Office. Alice is also predeceased by her father, Frank Starson, her mother, Marie Bernaski, step father, Steven Bernaski and her brother, Peter Starson. Alice raised her 3 children who survive her:Bill (Cheryl Baignosche) Stone, Linda (John) Nuzback and Bob (Ellen) Stone. She was the most loving and sweetest mom to her children, as well as their friends. Alice especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who will remember her for all the fun times they spent together and all the love she gave them: Vinn (Chrystal) Stone, Nick Stone, Tony (Nikki) Stone; Kristen (Brian) Shoemaker, Amy Nuzback, John G. (Lynn) Nuzback; David (Mary) Stone, Jared (Laura Lee) Stone and great grandchildren, Gianna Stone, Cydney Chase, Anthony and Noella Stone; Brady Shoemaker; JJ and Reagan Nuzback; Annleigh Kay and Lillian Claire Stone. Alice is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, including her godson and nephew, Gary Flynn, who held a special place in her heart. A calling period will be held Tuesday, March 31, from 9 to 10:45 am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam, followed by an11:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel's Church, 3040 Hamburg St., Rotterdam. Burial will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Alice's family would like to thank Kingsway Nursing Center for the wonderful andloving care Alice received from all the nurses, aides, activity directors and staff, especially on B wing.
