Alice M Healey

November 24, 1930 — September 15, 2017

Rotterdam - Alice M. Healey, 86, passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on September 15, 2017 after a long illness. She was born in Schenectady on November 24, 1930, a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Altieri, and attended Nott Terrace High School. In her earlier years, she was the Captain of the City of Schenectady Ladies Basketball Team. Also an avid swimmer and diver, crowds would gather to watch her graceful diving. After raising her four children, Alice was a bookkeeper at the Scautub Agency for many years. Alice loved cooking homemade meals for family (she was famous for her meatballs), crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren, watching Law & Order SUV, and she was never without a crossword puzzle. One of the joys of her life was spending her winters in Florida; she couldn’t get enough warmth and sunshine. Her proudest accomplishment above all was being the quiet matriarch of her family. Alice is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Jack; their children John (Deb) Healey, Stephen (Patti) Healey, Donna (John) Segatto; and 10 grandchildren Sean (Danelle) Healey, Ryan (Megan) Healey, Nicole Healey, John Robert (Adrienne) Healey , Jae Segatto, Dean Segatto, Michael (Michelle) Segatto, Linda Segatto, Ashley (Adam) Hannah and Morgan Healey plus 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Mike (Nancy) Altieri and Anthony (Anne) Altieri, and 4 sisters, Rose Leo, Gloria (Victor) Capogna, Shirley (James) Pelicone and Joyce Paskiewicz. She was predeceased by her son David P. Healey in 2006. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin on September 20, 2017 at 9:15 am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Madeleine Sophie Church Schenectady and interment at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery Niskayuna. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place Memphis, TN 38105.
