Alice M (Alberti) Cacchillo

Alice M. Cacchillo, 92, of Evergreen Ave. Rotterdam, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Windham, NY Alice was the daughter of the late Elmer and Nellie (Tompkins) Alberti. A graduate of Windham-Ashland-Jewett High School, Alice attended college at Syracuse University, Hunter College and in Chicago, Ill. Alice worked for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady and then joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. After her service in the Navy, Alice worked for 32 years for the Federal Government at various places including the Navy Depot, Army Depot, NASA Space Center in Florida, Valley Forge Military Personnel, Department of Justice Personnel in Vermont, and the last 14 years in the Immigration Office in Albany. Over the years Alice received many awards and schooling. She was also a life member of the Women of the Eastern Star in Windham. In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband, Peter Cacchillo, her son, Douglas W. Cacchillo and four brothers; Richard Alberti, Elmer Alberti, Clyde Alberti and Leslie Alberti and her sister, Marjorie Stafford. She is survived by her sister, Leona Quick, one brother, Donald W. Alberti, two sisters in law; Beatrice Alberti and Marguerite Alberti as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held Sunday eve from 5-8 p.m. at the Demarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:30 am at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
