Alexander B. Pedersen, a quiet man of faith, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family. Al was born on October 6, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Nils M. and Odine (Karlson) Pedersen. Al met his wife Shirley and the two were married on October 15, 1955.

For the majority of his life, Al worked as a camera man for the local News Channel WRGB in Niskayuna. He was a member of the Air National Guard for nine years, working on aircraft radios at the Scotia/Glenville AFB. In retirement, Al and Shirley spent much of their time touring the United States in their RV, as well as traveling to thirteen different countries around the world. For sixteen years, they spent winters in Venice Florida, where they made many dear friendships within the Venice Isles Community. He spent many winters volunteering at Habitat for Humanity as Al could build or fix anything. In the summertime, the couple resided at the family camp on Sacandaga Lake, accompanied by their large extended family. Al enjoyed fishing, sailing and photography. Al and Shirley were also longtime faithful members of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady and St. Francis of Assisi Church in Northville.

Al is survived by his four children, Lori (Tom) Chera of Hadley, New York, Patricia (Fred) Ziobrowski of Rotterdam, New York, David (Rita) Pedersen of Maria Stein, Ohio, and Paul (Jenn) Pedersen, of Guilderland, New York. He also leaves behind his brother, Roy (Snooky) Pedersen, sister–in-law Diane Pedersen, his 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Al is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Shirley Ann (Sleasman) Pedersen, and his brother, Harry M. Pedersen.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
