Alexander R. Carusone, 84, known to everyone as “Al” passed away at Saint Lucie Medical Center surrounded by his wife and family on November 9, 2019. Al was a “snowbird” spending summers in Rotterdam and winters in Port Saint Lucie, FL. He was born on February 1, 1935 in Schenectady and was the son of the late Joseph and Nancy (Mastrianni) Carusone. Al is a USAF Korean War veteran. It was during his service he met and married his wife Lorraine (Gonthier) of 64 years. They raised their seven children in Rotterdam. Al was passionate about raising a strong and close family. He enjoyed family gatherings, bowling, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He worked at General Electric in Schenectady for over 20 years. Al will fondly be remembered for how he loved to use his sense of humor to make people laugh and comfortable. He never met a stranger with a strong belief in respect for others. Al didn’t believe in “goodbye” only “see you later”. Along with his wife, Al is survived by his seven children; Joseph Carusone (Michelle), Linda Carusone (Becker), Alexander Carusone, Jr. (Martha), Nancy Jacobs, Angeline Rowe, Laura Struffolino (Frank), and Antoinette Bradley (Chuck); his sisters Angie Petrucci, Antoinette Mooney (Bill), and brother Louie Carusone (Cindy) as well as many grand children, great grand children, and a great great granddaughter. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday, November 21st between 6-8:00 p.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday morning at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St. Schenectady. Burial, with military honors will follow at Saint’s Cyril & Method Cemetery in Rotterdam
