Albert J Kausch

d. October 14, 2016

Albert James Kausch went to be with his Lord on October 14th, 2016. Baseball was his passion but Jesus was his Lord and Savior and the Holy Spirit was his guide in this maze called life. Albert grew up in Rochester NY and he graduated from Benjamin Franklin High in 1947. He played for the Detroit Tigers Minor League Team during the years of 1948-1949. In 1954 he graduated Valedictorian from the NYS Maritime College as an Engineer with his Merchant Marine license for steam and diesel. He played three sports while in college and was inducted into the NYS Maritime College Hall of Fame. He was a Rhodes Scholar Candidate. Albert married Helen Polozowski in 1954. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade in the Navy and served on minesweepers in the Pacific. He took a position as a nautical engineer for General Electric and Albert and Helen eventually moved to the Schenectady County area in 1958. They raised five children and were the proud grandparents of nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Albert worked at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory for 35 years as an Engineer involved in design of advanced nuclear powered submarines and analysis of foreign submarines. He was a hero of the Cold War. Albert was a complex thinker who was a genius, a polymath, a great father and a loyal husband. He was a lifelong athlete, a coach and a mentor for young people in many sports. Albert coached little league baseball for many years. Albert and Helen attended East Glenville Community Church where he also coached high school basketball for the church league, where attendance at Sunday School was a requirement to play on Saturday night. Throughout those years he designed and built a rustic summer home in the Adirondack woods at Friends Lake. He enjoyed working on the camp, fishing, hiking and exploring; this was an entire family experience. Albert was a Renaissance man who was a serious and accomplished writer and painter. Watercolor paintings of historical places and the natural beauty of this area were the focal subject material for his art. While living in Myrtle Beach, SC, Albert wrote essays supporting God and conservative values. He was a keen reader and delighted in political discussion. His hand-painted Christmas cards were memorable. The cards were pictures taken from his original paintings and included messages about Jesus. Albert was a horticulturist and a gardener who grew vegetables and roses. He started all his plants from seeds. He was able to continue gardening even as he lived at the Glendale Home with Helen, his bride of over 60 years. His tomato plants were prolific and delicious tomato sandwiches were enjoyed at lunch. Albert is survived by his wife Helen Polozowski Kausch; His lifelong good friend Walter (Denise) Sankowski; His 5 children: Michael Kausch, Dr. Albert P Kausch, Margaret ( Mark) Shaver, Joseph ( Christine ) Kausch, Dr. Susan (John) Richter, grandchildren Andrew Kausch, Tim ( Kate) Kausch, Jeffrey ( Kristen) Kausch, Laura Shaver, Jennifer(Jonathan) Williams, Bryan Shaver, Kathryn Williams, Amanda ( Chris) Harrison, Garrett Richter and 7 great- grandchildren.
