Ross F Moody

Rotterdam- Ross F.Moody, 87,at rest Tuesday, June 18, 2013. Ross was born in Rotterdam, and educated in Rotterdam schools. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Navy. He proudly served on various ships during WWII,including the USS Gantner, a Destroyer Escort. He left the Navy in 1946 as a Gunner's Mate Third Class. Ross had a great love for his country and his family. He was employed as a Postman with the U.S. Postal Service for 28 years, retiring in 1986. He was active in the Rotterdam Elks Lodge 2157, and was a Trustee for 30 plus years. Ross was the beloved husband of the late Antoinette DiLeva and the beloved husband of 44 years to Marcia L. (Bott) Moody; beloved father of James (Kay) Moody, Sandy (Bill) Hibberd, Cindy (Rick) Torres, Lynn (Melissa) Holtermann; loving grandfather of Alyssa, Jeff, Laura, Lizzie, Logan, Gage, and Maya;beloved great grandfather of Brayden. Calling hours will be held Friday, June 21 from 4 to 7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, Rotterdam. A funeral service will be held 10am Saturday at the funeral home, followed by military honors at the funeral home.Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
