Margaret G (O'Neil) Vincent

Margaret G. "Peggy" Vincent, 87 of Schenectady, passed away on Saturday, April5, 2014. Born in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late John H. O'Neil and Mary Lynch O'Neil. Margaret was educated in Massachusetts schools. She was the director of Admissions for St. Clare's Hospital until her retirement in 1988 after 35 years of service. During WWII she worked for Stone & Webster Engineering as a secretary for the head of the drafting division and received a certificate from the United States War Department, Army Services Forces Corps of Engineers, Manhattan District for her participation in "work essential to the production of the Atomic Bomb". She was a member of St. Gabriel's Church in Rotterdam for many years and also attended the Church of the Immaculate Conception where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, she also attended St. Paul the Apostle Church. Margaret was member of the Schenectady Chapter of the Home Bureau, was a charter member of the National Hospital Admitting Officers Association, the New York State Association and was past president of the upper New York State Association. Margaret was married to Raymond G. Vincent on December 2, 1944 until his death in 1991. She was also predeceased by two sons, Raymond G. Vincent and John R. Vincent, her brother, John O'Neil, her sister, Winifred Stevens and three grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, Richard J. Vincent (Joanne) of Crofton, MD, Howard J. Vincent and Thomas L. Vincent (Josephine), both of Rotterdam, two daughters, Sheila Ditoro (Norman) of Niskayuna and Sharon Nicklaw (James) of Schenectady, 13 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren, her sister in law Florence Frieble of Pennsylvania, as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, 9:15 from the funeral home, followed at 10 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel's Church. Burial will be at Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery in Rotterdam.
