Guilderland - Kathleen A. Michaud, 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 10th, 2018 surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren. Kathy married the love of her life and best friend, the late, great Donald (Donny) Michaud and made a beautiful life with him. They were so in love and had so much fun together while raising their three daughters. Kathy’s life was focused on her loving husband, three daughters, and later in life, her grandchildren. She was an excellent mother, always making sure her girls were loved, cared for, and happy. Although her main priority was wife, mom and homemaker, she had a few part time jobs over the years working with disabled children and in day care centers, and she also took on babysitting from home. She treated all kids as if they were her own and had a special way about her that made all children love her and she loved them even more. Kathy had the patience of a saint and would go out of her way to help anyone in need. She was so thoughtful and kind and loved her family and friends unconditionally, never expecting anything in return. She loved shopping, planning family game nights and get togethers, and was always the life of the party and last to leave. For decades her summers were spent with extended family at White Horse Beach, catching up, sea glass hunting and just enjoying life. As a long time parishioner and active member of St. Madeline Sophie Parish, she lead the faith sharing group for years, sang with the gospel choir group, and enjoyed attending religious retreats. Kathy is predeceased by her husband, Donald Michaud whom she enjoyed 45 years of marriage with, her father, Richard “Richie” Tolan and one brother, Richard “Dick” Tolan. She leaves behind her devoted daughters, Matté Jeanne Boyd, Shannon Muth (Daniel) and Laurie Doyle (Aaron) and her loving grandchildren Alyssa, Cassius, Jack and Fiona. She also leaves behind her mother, Claire Tolan, her siblings, Deborah Clark (Les), William Tolan, Nancy Yeager (Dave) and Jeffrey Tolan (Jill) as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 16th from 5-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Tpk. in Guilderland. Funeral services will begin Friday morning at 9:15am at the funeral home and will be followed by a funeral mass which will be celebrated at 10am at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, Carman Rd., Guilderland. Kathy will be laid to rest with her dear husband, Donny, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. When Kathy was diagnosed with this rare cancer, Leiomyosarcoma, she selflessly offered her medical records for the continued research to help current and future patients with the same disease. Memorial contributions in Kathy’s honor may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215 or at dana-farber.org.
