Joseph "Butch" Simone

Guilderland – Joseph A. “Butch” Simone, 73, passed away suddenly on Tuesday October 30, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospital with his loving family at his side. Born on December 31, 1944 in Niskayuna, NY he was the loving son of the late Anthony (Tony) Simone Sr. and Gladys Livingston Simone. He was the devoted and loving husband of Joan Chiera Simone who he married on August 30, 1975. Butch has been a Guilderland resident most of his life and formerly resided in Schenectady. He attended Guilderland schools and was employed by New York State University at Albany as a painter for 35 years retiring August 30, 2000. He loved his family, home, gardening, visiting family, taking bus trips and enjoyed getting together with his wonderful neighbors. He found happiness in helping others. He especially enjoyed the family gatherings with cousins Patti & Kevin Peters and their daughter Sarah who was so special to him. He will be missed by many. He was a member of the Guilderland Elks and a communicant of St. Madeleine Sophie Church. Survivors include his loving wife Joan Simone. His loving second mother Angelina Simone of Florida. His sisters Maryann Coffey of Guilderland and Lisa (Jerry) Faucett of Florida. His brother Garry (Barbara) Simone of Central Bridge. His brother-in-law John Chiera of Watervliet. He is also survived by Sarah Muller and Lyn Chiera who were like daughters to him along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents he was predeceased by his brother Tony Simone Jr. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday November 4, 2018 from 2-5 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 5216 Western Turnpike (just west of Carman Rd.) Guilderland. Funeral services will begin 11:15 am Monday followed a 12 noon Mass of Christian Burial at St. Madeleine Sophie Church. Burial will follow at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont. Memorial contributions may be made in Butch’s memory to Community Hospice 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208 or to St. Madeleine Sophie Church.
