Guilderland NY- Gertrude "Trudy" (Colasanti)Palmeri ,passed away in her sleep on May 11, 2015 after a long battle with COPD ,Cancer and heart disease. The youngest of the hard working Colasanti family of Brooklyn NY, Trudy was born on March 24, 1936 .Trudy was a lifelong Brooklyn resident who retired to Guilderland to be near her family. She met the love of her life WWII Veteran Frank Palmeri at a pizzeria in Brooklyn. A graduate of Grover Cleveland High School, she started working her way up the ranks at the Hartford Mutual Insurance Company before leaving to become a stay at home mother to her three sons whom she adored. When the nest became empty she enjoyed a second career at McDonalds becoming the most popular children's birthday party host they ever had. Trudy loved listening to the radio, doing crosswords puzzles andwatching Wheel of Fortune and eating the most delicious meatballs prepared by her beloved husband Frank. Her greatest joys by far came from reveling in the successes of her three sons, her grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong Catholic and received great comfort from her faith. Trudy is survived by her husband of almost 60 years Frank Palmeri, sons Frank (Charlotte) Anthony (Lori) and James (Robyn) grandchildren Ira Martin (Meredith Bain) Heather (fiancéRicky Grebe) Derek, and Hannah Palmeri , great grandchildren Owen and Regan Martin and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc 5216 Western Turnpike Guilderland on Sunday May 17, 2015 from 2 pm to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Monday May 18 ,2015 at 10 am at St Madeleine Sophie Church Carmen Road .Interment will follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery at 1 pm.
