Rotterdam – William F. Offenbacker, 74, passed away peacefully, at Ellis Hospital, with his loving family by his side on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
Born in Troy, he was the son of Donald and Ethel (Hammond) Offenbacker. Bill loved our country and served in the United States Navy from 1963-1966. He retired from Schenectady International working at the Rotterdam Junction plant.
Bill enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing poker in his free time and was a loyal NY Yankees fan. He was also an active member of AMVETS, the American Legion, and the Elks. His grandkids stole his heart and he enjoyed supporting them in all of their school and sports activities.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Elaine, his daughters, Jennifer Barnes and Karen (Tom) Walker, and his favorite grandson, “big guy” Joshua Barnes, and his favorite granddaughter, “little one” Jordan Walker. His services will be private and burial with military honors will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to NYS AMVETS Post 35, PO Box 4152, Schenectady, NY 12304. The family would like to say a special thank you to his three very loyal buddies, Dick, Carl and George who stuck by his side throughout his 6 month illness.
