Born in Schenectady, Eleanor was the daughter of late Fortunato and Filomena (Longo) Spina. She was a graduate of Draper High School.

Eleanor was employed as a secretary with the General Electric Co. for almost 40 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. In her spare time, Eleanor enjoyed bowling, bingo and trips to Atlantic City and Racino. She was also an enthusiastic Yankee fan.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Nicholas Capra and her siblings, James Spina (Angelina), Louise Troiano, Gabriel Spina, Silvio Spina (Lillian), Sesto Spina (Carmella), Julia Pasquariello (Arthur), Helena Friello and Josephine Monticolo (Joseph) along with her in-laws, Sam Capra (Marion), Rose Lombardi (Dominick), Helen Cuoco (Gerald) and Betty Mastriani.

Although Eleanor had no children of her own, she was a guiding “motherly” influence in the lives of  many of her nieces and nephews, who often relied upon her for guidance and advice.

Eleanor is survived by her nieces and nephews, Arthur and Lidia Pasquariello, Ronald and Barbara Mastriani and Diane and Michael Babin, her brother-in-laws, Anthony Friello and Anthony Troiano as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to thank Maryann (Annie) Pigeon  for being Eleanor’s trusted “best” friend, as well as dear friends, Lillian Mozal and Marge Pirro.

Eleanor will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, her gentle manner, and her strong religious beliefs. Because of her attention to detail, she never missed acknowledging a birthday, anniversary, or other special event in the lives of others.  Her consideration of others throughout her life was truly unique.
