Glenville – Anthony J. Gugliuzza, 95, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 17th, 2017.

Born in Buffalo, Tony was the son of the late Thomas and Maria (Barreca) Gugliuzza.

Tony was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, entering Siena College in 1940. He enlisted in the US Army along with many of his classmates in 1942, honorably serving in the European Theater during World War II. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Siena College in 1947.

A bricklayer for the Local #16 for many years, Tony retired as business manager in 1988.

Tony was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Senior’s Muni Golf League.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Viola (Bonk) Gugliuzza whom he married on October 29, 1949. He also leaves behind his children, Marie Krauser (Thomas) of Scotia, Margaret Houtz (Scott Retersdorf) of Johnstown, Gary Gugliuzza (Laurel) of Johnstown and Catherine Gugliuzza of Princetown, grandchildren, Amy Krauser (Dan Walters), David Krauser (Sarah White), Joseph Houtz (Kaye), Daniel Houtz (Kate), Christopher Houtz (Jade), Andrew Gugliuzza, Melissa Fitzpatrick (Eugene), Breanna Cuttle (Vincent), Anna Gugliuzza and Sarah Gugliuzza,  great grandchildren, Caitlin Krauser, Parker, William and Elizabeth Houtz, Amelia, Ciaran and Maura Fitzpatrick,  and Leighanna Cuttle. Tony is also survived by his sister, Gertrude DeCerbo, as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Schwartz..

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 19th from 5-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. in Rotterdam. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am at St. Joseph’s Church, 321 2nd St. in Scotia. Interment with military honors will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
