GUILDERLAND- Alan L. Kisby, 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Schenectady on March 18, 1948, Al was a lifelong resident of Guilderland.
Al graduated from Guilderland High School in 1966. While attending Guilderland, Al played football. Al joined the U.S. Navy after graduating from Guilderland where he proudly served as a gunner’s mate on the USS New Jersey BB-62. After completing his tour, he worked briefly for General Electric. Al worked for Otis Elevator for 39 years and was a proud member of Local 35. Al was a member of the Altamont Reformed Church and a founding member of the “Choppers” golf league.
Al loved his family, hunting, fishing, golf, and riding his Harley Davidson.
Al leaves behind his loving wife, Sharon. He was the proud father of Erin (Sean) Quillinan, Staci (Andrew) Clark, Eric (Heather), Michelle Buffardi (Bob Powers), Michael Buffardi and his grandchildren: Tyler, Ethan, Conner, Kalen, Hudson, Makayla and Gracie. Al also leaves behind his sister, Donna Walsh, his brother, James (Jeanne) Kisby, sisters-in-law Barbara Bidleman and Beth Burlingame, brothers-in-law James (Deborah) Lenihan and Bill (Linda) Lenihan, sister-in-law Mariann (Lou) Cassara, his father-in-law Porter Bidleman, his mother-in-law Ann Lenihan-Concannon, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Al was predeceased by his wife Mary Louise Bidleman Kisby, his parents; Earl (Willard) and Wannetta Kisby, his mother-in-law, Alice (Sally) Bidleman, and his brothers-in-law; Charles (Peter) Walsh, and Mark (Burls) Burlingame.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday November 17, 2019 from 3-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike Guilderland, NY 12084. A funeral service will be held on Monday November 18, 2019 at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Northeastern New York Chapter of the Alezheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601.
