Mary Rose (Giovannone) PaganoNovember 30, 1928 ~ September 10, 2017 (age 88)
Rotterdam – Mary Rose Pagano, 88, passed away on Sunday, September 10th, 2017 at Glendale Home.
Born in Schenectady, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Zort) Giovannone.
Mary was a simple person who devoted her time to her family and home. After 18 years of service at Glendale Nursing Home she spent endless hours inside and outside of her home. Every morning Mary would have her radio on to start her day. She wasn’t extravagant but when it came to her window décor and flower gardens it’s a reflection of her talent and green thumb. The countless hours of gardening had brought her joy and the end product should have been displayed in a magazine.
Mary also had the opportunity with thanks to her daughter, Marie and son-in-law, Ed to travel to places that she would have never seen. She was shy and quiet but those vacations brought her to another level of happiness.
She also spent time at exercise classes that turned her life in another direction. Her shyness turned her into a little social butterfly and she even involved herself with country music and line dancing, which she was quite good at!
Mary always put her children first. She wouldn’t think of it any other way. She was very generous in many ways. The thought of baking for friends and family for countless hours brought her joy. Her talent for baking was extraordinary. Everything was baked from scratch to perfection.
Mary was a grandmother that anyone would want. She always made sure her grandson was well taken care of and her door was always open no matter what time of day or night. He was her pride and joy.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Charles J. Pagano, her sister, Josephine Solghan and her brothers, Jerry, John and Larry Giovannone and son-in-law, Edward Androski
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her 4 daughters, Marie Androski, Joanne Savignano, Charlene Zawisza (Michael) and Marlene Pagano (Steve), one grandson, James Charles “JC” Savignano (Michelle) and her great granddaughter, Charlize Mia Savignano. She also leaves behind her sister, Louise Albright as well as many nieces and nephews.
For the past 4 ½ years her sister Louise took the role of a “guardian angel”. Louise committed everyday to visit her sister and provided loving care. She made sure she was well taken care of including home cooked meal preparation on a daily basis, she only made the best for Mary.
Mary was loved by many including the staff at Glendale Nursing Home. They all admired her cute smile and her sweet personality.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14th from 5-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. in Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin on Friday at 9:15am at the funeral home and will be followed by a Mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated at 10am at St. Gabriel’s Church, 3040 Hamburg St., Rotterdam.
