Schenectady – Marie Katherine Splann Francey, age 97, passed away on Monday, October 9th, 2017 at Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center.

Marie was born in Frankfort, NY to the late Daniel and Katherine (Farrell) Splann.

Marie graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and worked for Niagara Mohawk and retired from Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory as executive secretary in 1985. 

Marie was a very active member of the VFW #1895 Women’s Auxiliary holding the titles of past president and kitchen chairman. She had many hobbies including reading, knitting, sewing, travelling to Florida and cheering on the New York Yankees. She especially loved cooking for her family, her chicken & biscuits and roast beef gravy were her specialties. 

Marie is predeceased by her husband, John (Jack) Francey, her son, David L. Francey and siblings, Lawrence Splann, Tillie Schuck and Daniel Splann.

Marie leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Kathleen Peek (John) of Georgia and Susan Clark (Stewart) of  Mayfield, NY and Florida, 8 grandchildren, Shannon Arnold, Tiffany Tassone (Joseph), Tracy Cohen (David), Katina Poteat (Jason), Tara LaMalfa (Daniel), Ryan Clark (Kaitlin), Meagan Lauricella (Eric) and Dylan Clark (Stephanie) as well as 16 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved sister-in-law, Mary Jean Boughton and several cherished nieces and nephews.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday evening from 5-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdam. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
